This is just a quick update for the website iPhone Gear, is 90% of the way finished. This website, in my opinion, has a good combination of community features and shopping options. My plan is to allow the community to help others to know about products, what works well, how to use certain products etc. so far the video, galleries, iphone widgets, and forums have been completed. I have not done the update to the live server yet but on my laptop these things have been done. I am considering of changing the theme/design but I will make those changes if the community indicates that should be done. I'll also began looking on hiring a few content moderators/builders. I might as well offer callout while mentioning this. The job won't offer enough pay to quit your day job but in return you will get to participate in building a great website, receive some form of salary and possibly win free iphone accessories.

Some exciting things that will be taking place soon is a user points and affiliate system. The idea behind these programs is to build awareness for the website, allow users to interact and help build the community side of the site. In return I will be offering free iPhone accessories along with a second-generation Apple iPhone. The user points system is very similar to what Firefox is using.

The user points system will grant points to the user each time they do a certain action. For example, if the user adds an image, video or a widget they will earn x amount of points. Each time a user creates a topic or replies to a forum post they were receive a few points. And, adding comments to content will give you points as well. I will be adding a voting feature to some content types, which you may also allow users to earn points. Users will gain more (per action) points by inviting their family and friends to the website. Each time the invitee create an account then fighter receives points. The affiliate system is tied into the user points system where any user who posts links to their website or through an e-mail and other users click on those links the affiliate will earn points. Many people may not think this system is worthwhile but you have to remember that the majority of iPhone users are also bloggers. And a blogger could post an affiliate link and earn points and free accessories when their readers click through to iPhone gear.com. In the end this creates branding.

I have not yet decided on how many points are needed to receive free iPhone accessories, those details will be coming soon.
