From time to time I will be in a deep thought and see some form of vision. This can happen when thinking about a friend, business, or spiritual things. Vision may not be the right word, but what I see is like a video played before my eyes which I do nothing to turn it on.

Yesterday while singing a song about “crowning Him” during church service, this vision thing happened. I saw all these people, men and women, walking around with crowns on their heads. The song was talking about when we meet Jesus in heaven we will be crowning him with many crowns. What that exactly means I can’t say but I do know that if he truly is the King of kings (King of justice, love, common rule, the universe etc) then he will be honored with all types of crowns.

Back to this vision, the story unfolded like this. All the people walking around with crowns on their heads is a symbol showing that each one of us has some form of authority in life, just as a King has authority of his rule, his land etc. When we become parents we learn real quick that we must establish that same structure with our kids. We must teach them to respect their parents and elders. They must see that crown on our head. And, sometimes, as the kids get older, we reward them and tell them they are ready for their own crown, giving them some form of authority / responsibilities.

At the end of the vision, the begging question was, are we crowning ourselves daily - living life by our own set of rules? Or are we crowning the King of kings? By crowning the King of kings with our crowns we basically give up our rules to life and say that we think His reign, His rules, His ways are better for us.

To me, the crowning thing was a deep thought and something I never have really thought about. Of course, I do think about how I should be living life, not by the ways of popularity but by my God, my spiritual Father, my Redeemer, my source of hope and strength. But, to realize that we all have crowns and daily have a choice to give it up and to honor One greater than us, that was deep.

Who are you crowning?
