Video tutorials are a great way to teach someone about a product or illustrate how to use something. They are much more fun to see than reading a manual.
For the past couple of days I have been working with CamStudio and creating screenshots (video tutorials) for clients and the backend of the websites.
I have learned from this experience that building screencasts should be much easier. CamStudio provides a free software that helps you create screencasts but to get high quality videos with synchronized audio you have to try many settings (video and audio codecs).
I watched many videos on youtube and the camstudio website and each illustrate how they use camstudio. But on my machine I have found that their settings are not optimal for my purpose with camstudio.
After spending hours of testing, creating videos and then having them transcoded to a flv file (from .avi), it just seems that there should be a better way.
In the process of learning all of this, I have found that there are a lot communities online regarding audio and video stuff.
Once I finalize and perfect on how to create 800x600 video sizes, I too will post a video tutorial on youtube and google videos. Maybe it might help someone new along the way.
