I built a Drupal 7 site recently that uses commerce. On each product page is a registration form (think ubercarts+events). I was able to get all working very well, rigorously tested. First let me describe my setup, in case it helps someone else.

As you can see from my site (right columns) I am an avid fairtax supporter. This week I read an interesting presentation of the effective fairtax rate, which I thought was compelling and would be supported by most Americans. I wanted to share this because you won't hear the media or nagging fairtax bloggers sharing the fairtax from this angle.

While writing a custom module with it's own content type, I needed to add a menu_local_task to node/x/edit path AND for it to only show up when editing the custom content type. Adding a menu local task is easy, but hiding it from other content types proved fruitless. And, it seems many others had similar needs and problems.

We have a new member in our family, Florzinha (Little flower), a seven week old rabbit. Last week I went to school to pickup my daughter (5 yo) and the first words out of her mouth were "Anna is selling her rabbits tomorrow, for free, Daddy really really really want one". She then took me outside to show me the baby rabbits, it only took me a few seconds to realize how innocent and cute they were. A few hours later I found myself talking to my wife explaining just that, the baby rabbits are so cute.

Went to move a site from a shared environment to less shared :) and came against this issue.

Once the VPS was setup for LAMP + Virtualmin I attempted to create a "server" within Virtualmin and kept getting weird errors about quota. Seems this VPS (through burst.net) is using veQuota to manage mounts. The solution is really simple:

Login to Virtualmin and do the following.

- Webmin -> Hardware group -> Disk & Network Filesystems

- Select "Module Config"

If you have been listening to the news lately I'm sure you have heard that our taxes are going to go up, on the state level and federal level. It is a crying shame that our government is broke and doesn't know how to deal with the situation, outside of raising our taxes.

It seems the FairTax is getting some deep thought in other parts of the world.

If you want to fax multiple pages to a fax machine with Microsoft's Fax Console,  here is how you do it.

1. Make sure Fax Console is enabled.
2. Next open up Fax Console, goto Tools > Configure Fax
3. Now create a document (Word, Excel, Text, Gif etc). Don't close the application yet.
4. Next, goto File > Print and choose Fax.
5. Fax Console will open, just fill in the required fields.

Upon submit Fax Consule will send your multi page fax.

A friend forwarded me an email the other day. I normally don't read forwards but this one I did. My question to the community (the wolrd wide web :-]): Is this story based on a true story? I am curious to know. Here is the email / forward / story.

Would you have made the same choice?

Last month Nancy Pelosi brought up "tax reform" and the idea of a National Sales Tax. That is the second or third time this year she has brought it up. Not to mention President Obama, he brought it up early in the year.

I decided to write the Democratic Party and encourage them to rally behind Pelosi and her push for tax reform. Below is a copy of my letter (some sources were used from here) to all Democratics members of congress:

I am pleased to hear that some democrat congress members are beginning  to use sound logic when mulling over the HR 3200 health care reform bill. I am mostly pleased with Sen. Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas who recently said she opposes the public option in its current form because it's too expensive.

As you can tell by my blog I am a FairTax supporter. I did some research recently and found the congress members who "oppose" the H.R. 25 and/or the S 296 bills.

Here is the fax I sent today to our representatives. If you haven't started reading the Health Care Reform bill (HR 3200), you should. This is the only way we can question the legislation and ask our representatives what different parts of the bill mean and why they support it. I tried to remain professional and party neutral throughout the questions. The questions are real and should not depend on which party I support.

I know you can't believe everything you hear in the media, but from the past 8 months history of bailouts, stimuluses etc, many congress members admitted they didn't read those bills. Let's keep them honest this time around. If they need more time, plead with the Whitehouse and ask President Obama to grant more time to for the Congress to read the entire bill before voting.

I have spent some time trying to find a complete list of phone numbers, fax, and emails to contact any or all of our US Representatives and Senators. With all the congress related websites, I am surprised no one has compiled such a list. With all the hype on contacting our representatives, I thought it might be useful to put such a list together.
