Why I support Mike Huckabee...
Probably like yourself, I had never heard of Mike Huckabee until about two to three months ago. And even then, I learned more about him through a friend, a great web designer, who informed me a little bit about Mike Huckabee. At the time the news media wasn't giving Huckabee very much coverage. I was a little disappointed about that early on because I want to learn more about this candidate. At the same time, it forced me to go to his website and read up on where Huckabee stands on issues.
After reading through his website and his blog I felt a lot more comfortable with this candidate. What got my attention the most was his talk about abolishing the IRS. Ron Paul has been talking about that in the debates and it is a great idea but Ron Paul doesn't really explain how he's going to abolish the IRS. Ron Paul doesn't explain where the money's going to come from that normally supports programs that use IRS monies. As I dove more into this fair tax idea that Mike Huckabee stands strongly on, I began to see the potential in this fair tax plan.
At this point I want to interject and say that I am not supporting Mike Huckabee solely because he has similar faith-based values as I do. And I should add that I really can't claim to be a Republican or Democrat. Although, I seem to lean on Republican based ideas. But at the same time I thought President Bill Clinton was a great president. Huckabee is the only presidential candidate standing up with a plan to abolish the IRS and to secure our Social Security program for the next 30 to 60 years through this fair tax plan. And from Huckabee's explanation of the fair tax plan, it seems like everyone is treated more equal and the poor are not burdened to become more poorer.
I can't claim that I understand the fair tax plan in its entirety but from what I do understand this plan could reshape America and give us a better future. As of right now the United States of America is $53 trillion in debt. Although the media and the Congress is saying $9 trillion in debt, but that is the immediate debt, meaning as of right now and not into the future. It would be long-winded and complicated to explain how the $53 trillion dollar debt number came about. I can say that the $53 trillion is not based on now, but based on the future of baby boomers, whose money the government is using right now to pay for all of our government-based programs in the Iraq war. Take some time to read the transcript by David Walker - about our economy, who is basically the United States accountant, the top dog who keeps the books for the United States of America.
$53 trillion is a lot of money. And if you take the time to read that article you will see that this is the snapshot of today, for all the citizens alive and all the programs that are available to us in the future, like Social Security and Medicare. If we continue at the current pace that were heading into the future, our national debt is going to be much higher. I don't even want to think about it in all honesty. Our government is broke, as citizens as a whole, we are broke and in debt. And the current IRS tax plans that are in place are not working. President Bush's tax credits are not really working long-term. As the largest economy in the world we need a real solution. Mike Huckabee is the only current candidate with the plan that seems to work long term.
This is really why I'm supporting Mike Huckabee. I am concerned about our economy and Mike Huckabee is willing to take a stand on a radical idea and push it into reality. Even if he was to become president it was still take an act of Congress to get the fair tax plan in place. But once it is in place the benefits should be almost immediate. Not only will the citizens of the United States ben
efit directly, the global economy will benefit.
It is amazing to see how the markets shift so suddenly when something bad or good happens here in the United States. Watching market reports can be pretty boring, but I challenge you to take a week and just watch the market channels to see what's going on in the other parts of the world and compare that with what's one on in the United States. You'll see that if our economy fails or falters other economies do as well. And in the end the global economy suffers, leading to poorer quality of life across the world.
I would love to expand on this post but I don't want to put you to sleep :) You get the picture, I support Mike Huckabee because of his faith-based values but more importantly because of the fair tax plan.
I plan to write more about the fair tax plan, the pros and the cons from an everyday individual, as well as some of the benefits that we can expect to see as a country. I would encourage you to take a look yourself in the see how you as individual and your family will benefit from the fair tax plan by using this fair tax calculator.
If you have read this far I need to an extend a big thank you for your attention. Thank you!
If you still aren't sure who you going to vote for I would encourage you to spend some time to investigate Mike Huckabee.
